WE People, WE Nature

We run a superb eco-hostel, located 20 minutes from the Southern Gate of the popular Murchison Falls National Park, and also central to many of Uganda’s Western tourist attractions. If you are looking to meet fellow travelers, join safari groups to the Murchison Falls or just stop-over on your way to the various attractions, come and join us!

Murchison Backpackers started with the idea of creating a fun and relaxing space where travelers came to Meet. Bond and Explore. Travel is fun and meeting people along the way makes it even more fun. We wanted a place with personality, where we could share our love for nature and equally care for our community where our team is proud of being “local ambassadors.”

OUR PRIORITY
Our focus is to give our customers outstanding service, provide authentic cultural experiences, and build a space where travelers can feel welcome and can meet other travellers. It’s our charm, our special attention to detail and our passion for delivering excellence that shall bring this to life. If our guest reviews reflect this, then you’ll know that we’ve achieved our goal.

Murchison Backpackers is registered by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and is also a proud member of the Uganda Hotel Owners Association (UHOA). We are accredited to offer accommodation and tour offerings to the general public. We are also listed as a Ugandan based Safari operator with Safari Bookings. Our Eco-Footprint

At Murchison Backpackers, we know our responsibilities go beyond the walls of our hostel.

We’re a team that believes that having a positive impact on the local community and the wider world is important to us. Our planet is precious and we want to do our bit to protect it for future generations. From going paperless whenever we can, to using as many local suppliers as possible, we’re always thinking about the little things we can do to make a difference.

Our hostel has gone the extra mile, and is embracing environmentally-friendly or green practices such as recycling, water conservation, limiting single use plastics, installing energy-saving devices and serving organic produce in our meals. We are also located close to Murchison Falls National Park – a popular ecotourism destination and focus on its sustainability by employing locally, providing low carbon-footprint activities such as free community walks, bicycle hire and contributing positively to the local community.
